Whalehead Brewery was established in 2022 in Corolla, NC. Our founder and owner Christin Crowley had a vision to open a fun and creative space where the community could connect with one another while enjoying an innovative beer experience. Starting at a very young age, Christin began vacationing with her family and friends in Southern Shores before there was any development in Corolla. Her father, Tom Crowley, purchased property in Whalehead in 1972. While Christin vacationed with her family, there was always laughter, fun, and good libations. Christin worked in the Navy for twenty-two years and had the opportunity to travel the world. After retiring from the Navy, she found her way back to Whalehead to make a permanent home and start her dream, Whalehead Brewery. While traveling Christin discovered all the different beer styles offered around the world. During that time she had the vision of brewing her own beer and creating a special local taproom for people to connect while enjoying full flavored craft beer. Christin made the whole production of Whalehead Brewery possible from rebuilding an old restaurant into the industrial, unique brewery and taproom that it is today, which includes a 5-barrel brewhouse with a self pour tap wall, manufacturing creative full flavored beer styles on site using the best ingredients possible. Our whale logo represents the connection to the Outer Banks beach community. We plan to highlight local events and charities to give back to the community for visitors and locals to support and enjoy. Our whale's name is Marella, which in Latin means sea, and she reflects the women's ownership of Whalehead Brewery. Join our pod and discover the craft beer experience at the beach!
